Laura Brown serves as an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science, conducting research on environmental impacts on women's health through a community-based project in Peru examining links between local environmental concerns and maternal/reproductive health outcomes.
Her academic qualifications include:
- BSc in Biological Anthropology, University of Kent
- MSc in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
- PhD in Epidemiology & Population Health – Demography, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
Her research integrates environmental quality, infant feeding practices, reproductive health, human behavioural ecology, environmental justice, and social epidemiology using interdisciplinary approaches from anthropology and epidemiology to address health inequities in global contexts.
She has received the ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship supporting her current work, and previously contributed to public health trials at Public Health England on obesity/diabetes interventions and HIV testing, plus reproductive health research with Dr. Tiziana Leone at LSE.
Laura teaches epidemiology, statistics, and global health courses across LSHTM, King's College London, Oxford, and UCL, with her Peru project actively involving community members as research partners in environmental monitoring.
