Laura Baxter is a Lecturer in Linguistics at Queen's University's Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds an MA in Linguistics from University of Toronto (2008) and a BA in Linguistics from McGill University (2003), and is currently completing her PhD at York University.
Her research examines regional and ethnic varieties of Canadian English, including Eastern Townships Quebec English and Toronto Black English, along with American media portrayals of Canadian English. She previously taught linguistics courses at York University and Glendon College covering social context of language, bilingualism, and English structure.
