Laura Baranzini

Laura Baranzini serves as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society and holds a permanent research position at OLSI within the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano. She is institutionally affiliated with the Institute of Italian Studies (ISI), contributing to both teaching and research initiatives in Swiss Italian linguistics.

Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Italian Linguistics from the University of Geneva (2010) followed by postdoctoral research appointments at the universities of Neuchâtel, Basel, and Turin, establishing her expertise in Swiss linguistic contexts.

Her research centers on critical dimensions of language use in Italian-speaking Switzerland, with emphasis on:

• Implicit communication mechanisms
• Regional variations of Swiss Italian
• Pragmatic structures in discourse
• Sociolinguistic identity markers
• TAM-E linguistic analysis framework

This work addresses the intersection of language, culture, and social dynamics in multilingual Switzerland.

Dr. Baranzini maintains active roles within ISI and OLSI, focusing on documenting and analyzing the evolution of Italian within Switzerland's unique linguistic ecosystem through institutional research channels.
