Lars Nesheim is a Professor of Economics at University College London (UCL) and Co-Director of the Centre for Microdata Methods and Practice (cemmap). He has been affiliated with UCL since 2003, holding a full-time academic position. Prior to this, he worked at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (2001–2003) after completing his PhD in Economics at the University of Chicago (2001). He earned a BA in Economics from Columbia University in 1993.
His research focuses on structural econometrics, computational economics, industrial organization, urban economics, economic dynamics, and hedonic models. He teaches courses in industrial organization, econometrics, and urban economics. Since 2007, he has served as an Academic Panelist for the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), advising on competition economics. He also acts as an Academic Advisor to KPMG and OFCOM since 2012.
His work aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). He is based at Drayton House, UCL's main economics department building in London.
