Lars Mathiassen

Lars Mathiassen is a GRA Eminent Scholar and Regents Professor at the Computer Information Systems Department within the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. He co-founded the Center for Digital Innovation and has maintained strong academic connections with institutions across Scandinavia through numerous visiting professorships.

His educational background includes an M.S. in Computer Science from Aarhus University (1975), a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Oslo University (1981), and a Dr. Techn. in Software Engineering from Aalborg University (1998). He has also received honorary doctorates from Copenhagen University (2011) and Umeå University (2016).

Mathiassen's research focuses on Digital Innovation, Health Informatics, IT Development & Management, and Action Research Methodology. His work employs Collaborative Practice Research, a methodology grounded in action research that emphasizes close collaboration with practitioners.
