Lars Johan Danbolt

Lars Johan Danbolt is Adjunct Professor of Practical Theology with Psychology of Religion at MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society. His research centers on existential aspects of health care, particularly in pastoral care, mental health contexts, and dementia care settings.

Danbolt's extensive research investigates meaning-making processes across diverse populations including:

• Patients with dementia and severe mental illness
• Adolescents with developmental trauma
• Individuals at suicide risk
• Older adults with sensory disabilities

He has contributed to developing assessment tools like the Meaning and Purpose Scales (MAPS) and examines the role of spiritual care in medical contexts. His COVID-19 research explored pandemic impacts on Scandinavian mental health and coping strategies.
