About
Lars Hernquist is the Mallinckrodt Professor of Astrophysics at Harvard University, affiliated with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. His research examines dynamical processes in cosmology, galaxy formation and evolution through numerical simulations of stellar dynamical and hydrodynamical systems. His work also explores neutron star physics, particularly thermal-magnetic interactions in strongly magnetized neutron stars.
He leads the Hernquist Research Group and contributes to the Institute for Theory and Computation. His research spans theoretical cosmology, high-energy astrophysics, and computational astrophysics methodologies.
