About
Prof. Lars Hahn serves as the Chair of Sustainable Textile Materials Engineering at Hof University of Applied Sciences’ Faculty of Engineering since the 2024/25 winter semester. A mechanical engineering graduate from Halle an der Saale, he specialized in textile technology and completed his doctorate (2020) on in-situ coating and drying for high-performance textiles. His habilitation focused on multi-axial load-adapted textile structures for fiber composites. Previously, he led the 'Multiaxial warp knitting technology and robotics for composites' research group at TU Dresden’s Institute of Textile Machinery and Tudatex GmbH as a freelancer. He emphasizes collaboration with colleagues and students, stating, “I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas with many inquisitive students!”
Education:
- Mechanical Engineering (diploma, specialization: textile technology)
- PhD: In-situ coating and drying technology for high-performance scrim structures (2020)
- Habilitation: Technologies for multi-axial load-adapted textile structures (2024)
Research Focus: Development of high-performance textile materials for fiber composites, integration of robotics in textile manufacturing, and sustainable production techniques. His work bridges advanced material science with innovative manufacturing processes, emphasizing prefabrication efficiency and multi-axial structural optimization.
