About
Lars Ellgaard is a Professor at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. His research laboratory focuses on protein biochemistry with specialization in protein folding mechanisms, degradation pathways, and venom toxin characterization. He holds a Cand. scient. and PhD degree.
Research Interests: Dr. Ellgaard's work bridges structural biology and biotechnology, with emphasis on:
- Conotoxin structure-function relationships
- Heterologous expression systems for complex proteins
- Venom protein engineering for therapeutic applications
- X-ray crystallography of bioactive peptides
His recent publications (64 total outputs) demonstrate strong focus on venom biodiscovery, with innovations in toxin expression platforms and structural analysis of ion channel modulators. Collaborative networks span multiple countries in venom research consortia.
