Lars Bannenberg is an Associate Professor at the Reactor Institute Delft within the Storage of Electrochemical Energy (SEE) group at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). He holds degrees in Applied Physics and Financial Economics, with a PhD in chiral magnetism. His research focuses on energy materials, including hydrogen sensing, battery interfaces, and solar cell materials, emphasizing structural-functional property relationships. He uses neutron/X-ray scattering techniques and works extensively with thin films. As instrument scientist for the neutron reflectometer, he maintains equipment and assists researchers.
Teaching includes the Nuclear Science and Technology course (TN1851) for Applied Physics BSc students, achieving high student satisfaction (8.7/10 in 2020-2021). He supervises bachelor/master projects in energy materials and financial economics. Collaborations include work with the Chemical Engineering department on hydrogen sensors.
