Lars Østergaard

Professor Lars Østergaard is the Sherardian Professor of Botany at the University of Oxford and Section Head of Molecular Plant Biology. He is affiliated with Magdalen College. His research focuses on hormonal regulation of plant development and diversity, particularly in reproductive tissues of model plants and crop species like Brassicaceae and Pisum (pea).

Research Interests: Investigating genetic and hormonal interactions driving morphological diversity, with recent expansion into legumes to address sustainable agriculture challenges. Collaborates across disciplines to translate fundamental discoveries into applications for increased plant-based protein production.
