Larry Stauffer

Larry Stauffer, Ph.D., P.E., is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and former 10-year Dean of the University of Idaho's College of Engineering. He holds administrative leadership roles including interim dean and senior associate dean, with prior service as director of the College of Engineering in Boise. His professional background includes design engineering at Westinghouse Electric Corporation.

• Education: B.S. and M.S. from Virginia Tech, Ph.D. from Oregon State University
• Licenses: Licensed Professional Engineer in Idaho

Dr. Stauffer has overseen strategic initiatives for the college's six departments, five research centers, and distance education programs across four Idaho locations. His leadership focuses on academic excellence, industry partnerships, and expanding engineering education access. Beyond academia, he actively engages in outdoor pursuits like skiing and hunting.

He has three sons, all University of Idaho alumni, working in engineering and creative fields.
