Larry Lesser

Larry Lesser is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). His scholarly work spans statistics and mathematics education, with a focus on teacher training, equity, cultural relevance, and engagement strategies. He has authored approximately 140 peer-reviewed publications and served on multiple international editorial/research boards, including founding Editor of the TODOS journal TEEM.

• Active in NSF proposal reviews, national organizational leadership, and conference organizing committees

His research interests intersect with language and culture in STEM, equity, and humanistic mathematics. Recent projects include NSF-funded initiatives and Templeton/CLAL grants.

He has also published 200 STEM-themed songs and poems, blending mathematics with creative expression.
