Larry Engelhardt

Larry Engelhardt is a Professor of Physics at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. He holds a B.A. in Physics from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from Iowa State University. His professional service includes leadership roles within the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), including serving as President of the Southeastern Section (SACS) and Chair of the AAPT Committee on Educational Technologies, which received the Committee of the Year Award under his leadership.

Engelhardt is a national leader in computational physics education, co-PI of the Partnership for the Integration of Computation into Undergraduate Physics (PICUP). He organizes PICUP summer workshops, contributes to the AAPT-ComPADRE digital library, and actively promotes computational methods in physics teaching through conference sessions and resource development.

His distinguished service to AAPT earned him the 2019 Homer L. Dodge Citation, the association's highest honor for sustained contributions. Engelhardt's work bridges cutting-edge research and pedagogy, emphasizing practical application of computational tools in undergraduate education.
