Larry E. Ray is a Senior Lecturer in Law at The George Washington University School of Law, teaching negotiation and mediation for 21 years. He is an attorney admitted to the DC and Ohio bars, with professional expertise as a mediator, arbitrator, facilitator, and executive coach.
Education:
- BA from Muskingum College
- JD from Capital University
His research and practice center on conflict resolution systems, pioneering the nation's first criminal mediation program during law school. He specializes in negotiation pedagogy, having designed the Advanced Negotiation course for the American Management Association and co-authoring Conflict Resolution (Wiley/JosseyBass). His work bridges academic theory and real-world application across legal, corporate, and governmental sectors.
Mr. Ray provides dispute resolution services for the U.S. Postal Service, National Archives, World Bank Group, and National Arbitration Forum. He previously directed the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section and National Association for Community Mediation.
Community engagement includes serving as President of the Columbia Heights Citizens Association (est. 1905), Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, and board member for DC's Taxicab Commission and Police Commission.
