Azer has substantial professional experience as Director of Finance and Operations for the King Philip Regional School District since January 2011, where he manages budget development, capital planning, food services, student transportation, and facilities management. He is an active member of the Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials (MASBO).
Previously, he served as an elected member of the Randolph School Committee from 2003 to 2012 (including three years as board chair), where he created and chaired the budget sub-committee. He successfully led efforts to pass a $5.5 million operational override of Proposition 2 1/2 in 2008, which remains the largest such override in Massachusetts history. As a capstone project during his MPA studies, his book review of "Trapped Under the Sea" by Neil Swidey was published in The Public Manager in winter 2014.
