Lance D. McBrayer is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Georgia Southern University's College of Science and Mathematics. Holding a PhD from Ohio University, his work focuses on organismal ecology with a specialization in herpetology and comparative vertebrate anatomy.
- Research spans behavior, physiology, evolution, and performance ecology
- Curator of the herpetology collection (36,000+ specimens)
- Conducted fieldwork in Ocala National Forest since 2007
His research examines how organisms perform ecologically important tasks like thermoregulation, predator evasion, and parasite resistance. From 2019-2023, he collaborated with Georgia DNR and USGS to monitor invasive Argentine Black and White Tegus in Georgia.
