Lance Cooley

Lance Cooley, Ph.D. is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Applied Superconductivity Center (ASC) at Florida A&M University-Florida State University's College of Engineering. His work focuses on superconductivity applications in particle accelerators and advanced magnet systems. He holds dual Ph.D.s from Stanford University (Mechanical Engineering, 2004) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Materials Science, 1993), alongside earlier degrees from the University of Chicago.

Research areas include superconductor materials science, SRF cavity development, and high-field magnet design for colliders like the Future Circular Collider (FCC) and High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC).
