Lalitha Gopalan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas at Austin, with affiliate appointments in the Department of Asian Studies and the South Asia Institute.

Her research spans Film Theory, Feminist Film Theory, and Experimental Film and Video, focusing on Indian and global cinematic practices. She has authored and edited landmark publications on Tamil cinema, digital India's film landscape, and genre studies.
