Vaige's research explores intersections between EU law, human rights, and national legal systems, particularly in areas related to family law, gender identity, and domestic violence. Her work often employs comparative law methodologies to analyze policy implementation across European jurisdictions.
Recent publications focus on gender identity regulations in EU law, cross-border recognition of same-sex relationships, and domestic violence protection mechanisms. These works highlight tensions between national sovereignty (ordre public) and supranational human rights obligations.
Scientific Awards:
- Benzelius Prize (2023) for outstanding comparative law studies on human rights and sexual minority protections in Europe
Vaige has contributed to major edited volumes and law journals, with a particular emphasis on Baltic states' legal systems and EU compliance challenges. Her research combines doctrinal analysis with sociolegal perspectives to address evolving family norms in transnational contexts.
