Laila Seewang is a Visiting Assistant Professor in Urban Planning and Design at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD). Her research explores how infrastructural networks and material supply chains reflect societal cultural values. She co-edited a special double issue of Architectural Theory Review (2021) titled 'Timber Constructed: Towards an Alternative Material History' and has written extensively on topics including German architectural historiography, Berlin public toilets, brick manufacturing in Brandenburg, and timber histories of the Pacific Northwest USA.
Education: Doctor of Science in Architectural History and Theory from ETH Zürich. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Aggregate Architectural History Collaborative. Her work bridges architectural history, design theory, and material culture studies.
