Lachlan Moyle

Lachlan Moyle is a Lecturer at the Language Centre of Queen Mary University of London, specializing in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and intercultural communication. He joined the institution in 2017, bringing extensive experience in teaching English, German, and Politics across secondary and higher education sectors in Germany and the UK. His work bridges cultural and educational practices, with a focus on dismantling national stereotypes through literature and visual art.

Research Interests center on:

• Image and reception studies: Analyzing how nations perceive and depict one another in cultural outputs.
• Cross-border transfer of ideas and creative practices in political, cultural, and linguistic contexts.
• Educational applications of intercultural studies to combat prejudice and promote global understanding.

His doctoral research, available via this link, conducted a comparative study of Anglo-German caricatures post-WWII. Moyle also curated the exhibition Coping with the Relations: Anglo-German Cartoons from the Fifties to the Nineties to address outdated national imagery.

At Queen Mary, he teaches Critical Thinking and Writing for Law on LLM/MSc programs in London and Paris, as well as Research Writing Workshops and Working in Global Environments modules. His prior work includes a decade-long research project on the Reception of British and Irish Authors in Europe (Bloomsbury publications) and freelance Business English training in the corporate sector.
