LOW Kee Yang

Prof. LOW Kee Yang is an Associate Professor at Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Law, specializing in tort law, corporate law, and legal education reform. He played a pivotal role in establishing SMU’s law school, advocating for a holistic curriculum blending legal studies with interdisciplinary training. His contributions include designing the SMU law school’s unique program (30% non-law coursework), introducing courses like Economic Analysis of Law and Commercial Conflict of Laws, and championing interactive pedagogy and open-book exams.

Education: B.A. (Law) from National University of Singapore; LLM and PhD from King’s College London. Prior to academia, he worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a legal manager. He co-authored The Executive's Guide to Business & the Law and authored The Law of Guarantees in Singapore & Malaysia.

Leadership roles include Deputy Dean of SMU’s Business School (1999–2002), interim Dean of SMU Law School (2006–2007), and disciplinary appellate officer since 2003. His efforts helped SMU become a leader in experiential learning, highlighted by student successes like winning NUS’s first case competition.
