Lívia Franco is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Political Studies (IEP-UCP) of the Catholic University of Portugal, and an Associate Researcher at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). She holds a PhD in Political Science from UCP and an MA in International Relations from Leuven University. Her academic career includes Fulbright research at Boston College, a visiting scholar position at Brown University, and a FLAD Visiting Professorship at Georgetown University (2021). She specializes in Contemporary International Politics, Transatlantic Relations, Portuguese Foreign Policy, European Politics, and the Tradition of the Great Books.
Her research focuses on geopolitical dynamics, including the Middle East, European integration, and U.S.-EU relations. She has authored books such as Uma Família Monárquica na Guerra da República (2023) and frequently contributes to media outlets like SIC Notícias, analyzing international affairs and European policy.
Lívia teaches modules including Russia, Putin, and the World, Geopolitics of the Greater Middle East, and Portuguese Foreign Policy. She is affiliated with UCP’s research centers and the ECFR, contributing to policy analysis and academic discourse on global governance and security.
