Prof. Dr. Könül MEMMEDOVA serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling within the Faculty of Education at Near East University. She additionally holds critical administrative roles including Chair of the Faculty of Education (AEF) Adaptation Committee and Coordinator of Joint Course Supervision.
Born in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1977, she earned her bachelor's degree in International Relations before pursuing graduate studies at Near East University, where she completed both master's and doctoral programs in Guidance and Psychological Counseling. Her academic career began in 2002 as a full-time lecturer while simultaneously working as a school counselor at Near East College, progressing to Associate Professor in 2018 and Full Professor in 2024.
Her research focuses on psychological counseling methodologies and professional development frameworks for guidance professionals, with significant contributions to Türkiye's Guidance and Research Centers (RAM). She actively participates in international educational cooperation through her founding role in the Azerbaijan-TRNC Education, Culture, and Cooperation Association and membership in the Center for Social Research and Development.
