Kyle Lascurettes

Kyle Lascurettes is an Assistant Professor of International Affairs at Lewis & Clark College within the College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a PhD and MA from the University of Virginia and a BA from St. Lawrence University. His research focuses on international relations theory, international order construction, global governance, security studies, and American foreign policy.

His current book project examines how powerful states drive foundational changes to international order through strategic rule-making and institutional shifts. A second project explores state learning from formative historical events. Lascurettes is particularly interested in the interplay between power dynamics and normative frameworks in shaping global systems.

Outside academia, he is an avid tennis enthusiast and collector of Woodrow Wilson memorabilia, aspiring to document Wilson’s role in the League of Nations. He enjoys Bruce Springsteen’s music and has a fondness for Roald Dahl’s children’s literature.

At Lewis & Clark, he values the blend of small-class teaching environments with a robust international affairs department, emphasizing liberal arts education. His work bridges theoretical insights with empirical historical analysis to address contemporary global governance challenges.
