Kyle Jenkins

Associate Professor Kyle Jenkins serves as Head of School and Dean of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland. He holds a PhD from Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney (2003), and leads research in contemporary visual arts practice. Jenkins maintains professional representation through Block Projects (Melbourne), MINUS SPACE (New York), and ALG (Toowoomba).

His research explores conceptual painting methodologies, specializing in:

• Hard-edge and organic abstraction
• Monochrome theory and practice
• Interdisciplinary approaches combining painting, sculpture and installation
• Site-specific and participatory art practices
• Artist-Run Initiatives (ARIs) development

Jenkins actively supervises doctoral candidates researching:

• Environmental sustainability through art
• Australian cultural nostalgia in visual media
• Digital technologies in creative industries
• Sustainable artefact design
