About
Kyle G. Leach is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the Colorado School of Mines. He leads the Electroweak Interactions (EI) Group and serves as Spokesperson for the BeEST Experiment. His research focuses on high-precision tests of the Standard Model, neutrino physics, and superconducting quantum sensors. Leach holds affiliations at TRIUMF (Canada’s National Laboratory for Particle and Nuclear Physics), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).
Leach earned his PhD from the University of Guelph, Canada, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at TRIUMF. His expertise includes decay spectroscopy of radioactive ions, neutrinoless double beta decay, and sterile neutrino searches. He has received prestigious awards such as the 2020 DOE Early Career Award and the 2019 FRIB Visiting Scholar designation.
Research interests span BSM physics, nuclear recoil spectroscopy, and detector development. His work leverages advanced techniques like superconducting tunnel junctions and cryogenic sensors to probe fundamental symmetries. Leach collaborates with major facilities including TRIUMF, FRIB, and the nEXO experiment.
Professional roles include serving on the TRIUMF Users’ Group Executive Committee and contributing to national research planning. He actively reviews for the DOE and NSF, and advises on TRIUMF’s strategic direction. Leach’s interdisciplinary projects bridge quantum sensors, nuclear physics, and astrophysical phenomena.
