Kwangmin Kim

Professor Kwangmin Kim is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado, specializing in the history of early modern China and East Asia. His research focuses on empire, borderlands, transnational relations, and global capitalism. He teaches courses such as 'Early Modern China, 960-1842,' 'Maritime Asia, 1500-1800,' and 'China and Islam.' His recent publications explore Qing Empire dynamics and regional histories, including Xinjiang and Central Asia.

Education: Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Berkeley.

Research Interests: Current projects include peasant resistances and gold mining in Manchuria (1800–1911), reflecting his engagement with socio-economic transformations and transnational networks in pre-modern East Asia.

Publications highlight his expertise in imperial expansion, border economies, and migration histories. He is actively mentoring Ph.D. and M.A. students in these areas.
