Kurt Buchmann is a Professor at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and leads the Danish Fish Immunological Research Centre (DAFINET) and the SCOFDA research school. His work focuses on fish-pathogen interactions, with emphasis on immunological responses to parasitic and bacterial infections, vaccine development, and sustainable aquaculture practices. He investigates disease resistance mechanisms in fish and employs marker-assisted selection in breeding programs.
His current research spans Ichthyophthirius multifiliis infections, Gyrodactylus infestations, and nematode infections in fish. His team includes two lecturers, three postdocs, three research assistants, two PhD students, and additional students.
