Rohini Kuner is a W3 Professor & Chair for Pharmacology & Toxicology at the Medical Faculty Heidelberg, Heidelberg University, since 2006. She has served as Institute Director at the Institute of Pharmacology (2009-2012) and led an Emmy Noether group (2002-2006) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Her academic journey spans postdoctoral research with Prof. Dr. Stefan Offermanns and Prof. Dr. Peter H. Seeburg, and industry experience at Axaron AG, Heidelberg.

Her research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms and networks underlying acute and chronic pain, as well as the plasticity of the nervous system in development and neurological disorders. She has pioneered work on spinal excitatory amino acid receptors and their role in pain pathways.
Rohini Kuner has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Rudolf-Buchheim Prize (2005), Chica and Heinz Schaller Research Award (2006), National Award for Basic Pain Research (2007), and the European Research Council Advanced Investigator Grant (2011). She was elected to the 'Neurosciences' section of the German Research Foundation in 2011.
