Kristy Maddux

Kristy Maddux is Professor of Communication and Executive Director of the Honors College at the University of Maryland. Her research examines rhetorical practices of democratic citizenship through lenses of gender, disability, religion, and race. She investigates how built environments facilitate democratic habits and is currently working on a book about Rett syndrome.

Education: Ph.D. from University of Georgia

Research explores: (1) democratic habits of citizenship influenced by physical spaces; (2) disability justice and bioethics through the lens of Rett syndrome; (3) feminist rhetorical history and deliberative theory.
