Kristopher Ramsay

Kristopher Ramsay is the William P. Boswell Professor of World Politics of Peace and War and Interim Chair of the Department of Politics at Princeton University. He is an Associated Faculty member of the High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI) and serves on the executive committee of the Program for Quantitative and Analytical Political Science (QAPS). His research focuses on strategic analysis applied to violent conflict, war, political economy, and environmental policy ethics.

Ramsay’s work integrates formal theory and quantitative methods, addressing topics such as dispute resolution institutions, militarization dynamics, and the political economy of conflict. He has contributed to understanding mechanisms like audience costs in international crises, the role of mediation in conflict resolution, and the interplay between environmental policies and transnational cooperation. His recent publications explore climate impacts on global food systems and the strategic implications of military coalitions.

Ramsay has received the endowed William P. Boswell Professorship in 2023, recognizing his scholarly contributions. He teaches advanced courses in international politics and formal political analysis at Princeton, emphasizing methodological rigor and theoretical innovation.
