Kristofer Hansson is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Head of Department at Malmö University's Department of Social Work within the Faculty of Health and Society. He earned his PhD in Ethnology in 2007 with a thesis on young people's everyday experiences living with asthma, completed through the Vårdal Institute research school. Since 2014, he has held the rank of Associate Professor.
His research explores how individuals navigate long-term illness and disability, with particular focus on:
- Healthcare encounters and professional-patient relationships
- Urban accessibility and disability infrastructure
- Quantitative data's role in chronic disease management
- Biopolitical aspects of viruses and bacteria in daily life
Hansson maintains affiliations with two research environments at Malmö University:
- Center for Sexology and Sexuality Studies, conducting national/international sexology research
- Transport and Mobility Studies research group, addressing interdisciplinary mobility challenges
