Dr. Kristine Johnson is Associate Professor and University Rhetoric Director at Calvin University, where she directs first-year writing, Rhetoric Across the Curriculum, and the Rhetoric Center. She earned her PhD and MA in Rhetoric and Composition from Purdue University, specializing in writing pedagogy and teacher preparation after graduating with honors in English from Calvin College.
Her research examines writing teacher preparation, writing assessment practices, and undergraduate research in composition studies. She investigates how educational frameworks support student identity development as writers and researchers, with recent work focusing on multilingual student placement and longitudinal impacts of undergraduate research experiences.
