About
Kristina Haslinger is an Associate Professor in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering. Her research focuses on natural product discovery and microbial engineering for pharmaceutical applications. She leads projects on endophytic fungi, enzyme characterization, and biosynthetic pathway engineering.
Her laboratory develops sustainable approaches to pharmaceutical production through microbial engineering and enzyme biocatalysis. Research interests include natural product discovery from medicinal plants, structural biology of biosynthetic enzymes, and engineering microbial cell factories.
Recent publications showcase advancements in genome mining, fungal natural products, and metabolic engineering. Her group has made significant contributions to understanding meroterpenoid biosynthesis, fungal enzyme diversity, and microbial production of plant compounds. She publishes regularly in high-impact journals including Nature Chemical Biology and Angewandte Chemie.
