Kristina B. Daugirdas is the Francis A. Allen Collegiate Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School. Her scholarship focuses on the interplay between international law and institutions, particularly examining how international law regulates (and fails to regulate) organizations like the United Nations, and how these institutions contribute to the evolution of international legal norms. She has served on the editorial board of the International Organizations Law Review and the U.S. State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Law.
- Education: BA magna cum laude from Brown University; JD magna cum laude from New York University
Her research explores the legal constraints on international organizations, the bindingness of international norms, and the role of institutions in shaping global governance. She has lectured extensively, including at the UN Audiovisual Library and the American Society of International Law workshops.
Scientific Awards:
- Francis Deák Prize (2014) for the American Journal of International Law article
She previously co-authored the annual Contemporary Practice of the United States Relating to International Law (2014–2017) and served as a consultant for the World Intellectual Property Organization during her 2016–2017 Visiting Fellowship at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
