Kristin Wolfe Jensen is a Professor of Bassoon and Division Head of Chamber & Collaborative Media at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin since 1995. She is also principal bassoonist with ROCO, a faculty member at the International Festival Institute at Round Top, and a licensed body mapping educator. Her expertise spans bassoon pedagogy, performance, and interdisciplinary approaches to music education.
Education: Master of Music from The Juilliard School; Bachelor of Music and Music Education degrees from Oberlin Conservatory. She has performed with major orchestras including the Dallas Symphony and Houston Grand Opera, and her recordings include Shadings, Handel: The 'Halle' Sonatas, and collaborative works like Modal Cycle – Live From France.
Research focuses on breathing techniques for wind instruments, as demonstrated in her book The Breathing Book for Bassoon, which integrates science and practical pedagogy. Her multimedia project MusicandtheBassoon.org and video series The Herzberg/Kamins Reed Making Method reflect her commitment to accessible educational resources.
