About
Dr. Kristin Schubert is an Emmy Noether young investigator group leader and head of the Toxicoproteomics group at the Department of Molecular Toxicology, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of environmental chemicals, immunometabolism, and systems toxicology. She holds a PhD in Experimental Rheumatology from the University of Leipzig and a diploma in Biology from Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. Schubert has led multiple projects including the Emmy Noether group since 2017 and contributed to initiatives like the PARC project on endocrine disruptors. Her work integrates multi-omics approaches to study toxicological effects, with a focus on adipocyte-macrophage interactions and metabolic endocrine disruptors. Key projects include investigating nanoplastics' biotransformation, FGF21's role in obesity, and proteomic analysis of extracellular vesicles in tumors. Schubert collaborates internationally, including at the University of Oxford's Kennedy Institute. Her research bridges environmental science, immunology, and systems biology, addressing contemporary challenges like plastic pollution and metabolic disorders.
