Kristian Borch

Kristian Borch is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sustainability and Planning, Aalborg University (AAU), within the Technical Faculty of IT and Design. His research focuses on sustainable energy systems, technology assessment, and futures studies, emphasizing citizen involvement in renewable energy planning. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Biology and multiple master's degrees in Innovation Management, Conflict Resolution, and Science.

His work integrates transdisciplinary methods like scenario planning and stakeholder engagement, with projects funded by EU and national grants. Notable projects include MISTRAL (2019-2022), KINETICS (2022-2025), and participation in the Task 28 Social Science of Wind Energy Acceptance network. He has authored over 38 publications, including in Energy Policy and Sustainability, and advises on energy policy through media and expert roles.

Research interests span renewable energy democracy, co-creation processes, and energy transition challenges in Nordic contexts. He actively peer reviews for journals like Marine Policy and Energies, and collaborates internationally in foresight initiatives.
