About
Kristi Kapten is a Senior Lecturer in Vocal Chamber Music and Accompaniment at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EAMT), where she also serves as Curriculum Coordinator for Classical Music Performance. She holds a PhD in artistic research from EAMT and a Master's degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Research Interests
Kapten specializes in performance issues related to the works of Ligeti and Rachmaninov. Her artistic research includes lecture recitals and supervision of doctoral and master’s level students at EAMT.
Performance Career
- Winner of the Tallinn International Piano Competition (2011)
- Active as a soloist and collaborative pianist across Europe and China
- Co-founder of the Kapten Trio (Glasgow, 2011), selected for Chamber Music Scotland’s Residency Project (2017–2019)
- Collaborator with violinist Stanislav Pronin and various vocalists in challenging chamber music works
