Kristen Barrett

Kristen Barrett, Ph.D., is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Rowan University's College of Science & Mathematics. Her teaching focuses on organic chemistry for non-majors, emphasizing innovative pedagogical approaches such as Flipped Classroom, Just in Time Teaching, and Gamified Active Learning. She also trains Learning Assistants to enhance student engagement and inclusivity.

Education: B.S. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (University of the Sciences in Philadelphia), Ph.D. in Chemistry (Medicinal Organic) from the same institution.

Research interests include improving STEM education through active learning methodologies. She has been recognized with the 2024 CSM Outstanding College Award. Professional memberships include the American Chemical Society, Society of Cosmetic Chemists, and the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers.
