Kristen Barnes serves as Associate Dean for Faculty Research and Professor of Law at Syracuse University, teaching Property, Housing Law, Voting Rights Law, and International Law.

Her research centers on anti-discrimination law, equality, property, housing, education, constitutional law, and pensions, with publications in top law reviews including Duke Journal of Constitutional Law and Public Policy and Harvard Journal of Racial and Ethnic Justice. Dr. Barnes has held leadership roles in the AALS as Section Chair for Property Law and Real Estate Transactions, presented at major conferences including ASIL Midyear Meeting and Harvard's Global Law Conference, and serves on UC Berkeley's Comparative Law Equality Working Group.

Prior to academia, she practiced commercial real estate law in Chicago and clerked for a federal district court judge in the Northern District of Illinois.
