Krista Mieze

Krista Mieze is a Lecturer (In-house) and Ph.D. student at the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Latvia. She is actively involved in psychiatric research, with a focus on suicidal behaviors, depression, and mental health education.

Her research interests include Psychiatry, Mental Health, Suicidal Behaviors, Sociodemographic Factors, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and Public Health. She has conducted studies on self-reported suicidal behaviors in Latvia and explored attitudes of early career psychiatrists toward ECT through international surveys.

The recent publication trends show a strong emphasis on psychiatric epidemiology, cross-sectional studies, and mental health policy in Latvia, with collaborative efforts extending to European research networks such as the EPA Summer School. Her work often integrates survey methodology, statistical modeling, and international comparative analysis.

She has participated in significant research projects, including Support for involving doctoral students in scientific research and DiSCoVeR: Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation for Depression, funded by the European Social Fund and European Commission. She has also presented her findings at academic events, such as her 2021 oral presentation on sociodemographic factors linked to suicidal attempts.
