Krista Chronister

Krista M. Chronister is a Professor in the Department of Counseling Psychology at the University of Oregon's College of Education. She specializes in researching the impact of partner violence on vocational and economic development, particularly among marginalized communities such as Filipino populations and Latinx communities. Her work emphasizes culturally-specific interventions, including the ACCESS program, which supports survivors' career rehabilitation. Chronister holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon (2003) and has been actively involved in leadership roles with the Asian American Psychological Association and American Psychological Association.

Her research interests include partner violence prevention strategies, the intersection of race/social class in community interventions, and fostering economic empowerment for survivors. She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, focusing on topics like substance use in young adult relationships and cultural competency in therapy.

Chronister has received numerous awards for her research and mentoring, including the 2019 John Holland Award and multiple APA honors. She has mentored over 25 doctoral students and continues to advocate for systemic change in domestic violence support services through her academic and clinical work.
