Kris Derek Hechevarria (he/him) is a Continuing Studies Instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), specializing in interdisciplinary art education. He holds a Master of Arts in Art Education from SAIC, focusing on museum-based learning and curriculum development for marginalized communities. His professional journey includes founding an art curriculum for students with learning disabilities and designing educational programs for institutions such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the National Veterans Art Museum.
He currently teaches Multi-Arts Camp for ages 8-9 and Core Studio Practice I & II, emphasizing hands-on exploration of 2D/3D/4D media, critical thinking, and collaborative studio practices.
