Koyel Khan is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and the Women’s and Gender Studies program at Texas A&M University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut with graduate certificates in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Human Rights. Her leadership role includes serving as the WGST Undergraduate Coordinator.
Her research interests focus on gender, sexuality, culture, and globalization, with an emphasis on nonwestern global perspectives and social justice. Her work explores intersections of religion, transnational experiences, and marginalized identities, particularly among South Asian communities. Khan’s scholarship also engages with feminist methodologies, including autoethnography and intersectional approaches.
Her publications span topics such as intersex health, transnational religious practices, and feminist praxis in global contexts. She has contributed to edited volumes like Global Feminist Autoethnographies During COVID-19 and the Routledge Handbook of Research Methods in the Study of Religion.
