Kostas Nikolopoulos

Professor Kostas Nikolopoulos holds the position of Professor in Business Information Systems and Analytics at Durham University Business School. He also serves as Co-Director of the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) and Board Member of the same institute. His academic journey includes a D.Eng from the National Technical University of Athens (2002) and participation in the Kellogg School of Management's International Teachers Programme (2011).

His research focuses on Forecasting, Analytics, Information Systems, and Operations with notable contributions to pandemic planning, supply chain resilience, and environmental intelligence through projects like the EU-funded RAMONES initiative. He has led over £0.5M in research grants via his forecasting laboratory and currently co-leads major grants including the GCRF SASHI project (2017-2021) and the EU RAMONES project (2021-2025).

Professor Nikolopoulos has authored over 29 publications in the International Journal of Forecasting and serves as an Associate Editor for journals like the IMA Journal of Management Mathematics. His work bridges theoretical forecasting with practical applications in business, government, and environmental monitoring.

He advises numerous PhD and Master’s students across various disciplines and maintains editorial roles in multiple journals. His research lab focuses on advancing forecasting methodologies for complex systems, including crisis management and sustainable resource planning.
