Kostas Kopsidas

Kostas Kopsidas is Senior Lecturer in Power System Planning, Operation and Reliability at University of Manchester's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Holds PhD in Electrical Power Engineering (Manchester), MSc with Distinction (Manchester), and BEng degrees from UMIST and Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus.

Research focuses on enhancing power network resilience through:

• Overhead line performance optimization
• Dynamic thermal rating systems
• Novel conductor technologies
• HVDC and hybrid AC/DC systems
• Grid-scale battery integration

Industry engagement includes consultancy for National Grid, UK Power Networks, and CIGRE working group leadership. Recognized as Bhattacharyya Award Finalist (2022) for innovations enabling increased transmission capacity.
