Professor Konstanze Senge holds the Chair of Economic and Organizational Sociology at the Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy I, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. She has been in this position since 2015 and maintains active office hours for student consultations. Her academic journey includes previous appointments at the University of Hamburg, TU Darmstadt, and the University of Bielefeld.
Her research interests span Economic Sociology, Organizational Sociology, Risk Practices, Corporate Social Responsibility, Gender and Social Inequality, and the Emotional Dimensions of Economic Behavior. She has made significant contributions to understanding how organizations navigate institutional contradictions, particularly between profit orientation and social responsibility.
Her recent publications reveal a clear trajectory toward examining the emotional dimensions of economic behavior and organizational practices. The 2024-2025 publications demonstrate her pioneering work on how emotions shape economic decision-making, corporate responses to crises, and sustainability practices. Her research increasingly bridges the gap between traditional economic sociology and affect theory.
